How to play Dota 2 on LAN

How to play Dota 2 offline (LAN mode)

Thanks to the Dota 2 LAN Update, players can now play the most popular game in the world via LAN.

Here's how to start playing Dota 2 in your local LAN party / LAN gaming center.

Step 1:
Start DOTA 2.

Step 2:
Click the PLAY button found on the top portion of the DOTA 2 user inteface.


Step 3:
On the CREATE LOBBY tab, select CREATE LOCAL LOBBY.


Step 4:
Click CREATE then wait for your friends to join the LAN Dota 2 room.


Step 5:
Start GAME.

If you want to join a LAN game, just do the following:
1. Start Dota 2
2. Click PLAY (found on the top)
3. Select Find a Lobby
4. Click Local Lobbies
5. Join the game.
6. Play DOTA 2 on LAN!

  2. do we have to go online to play on lan? this is rather confusing because when we go offline, the create lobby tab is not available

  4. i create local lobby in online mode but my friend,who have same IP like mine on the LAN network couldnt find the local lobby i created,,can you help me?

  9. it's not the same with WC3 offline. it still needs internet connection. players all around the world loved WC3 because of that feature.
