LoL hits 500 000 concurrent players

As the first free to play game in the Dota genre, LoL has seen tremendous growth with their business model averaging 700 000 new registrations per month since it was released in October 2009.

As of July 2011, LoL has the following player statistics:
- 15 million registrations (Total for all active / inactive accounts plus unique / smurf accounts)
- 4 million players play in one month
- 1.4 million summoners play League of Legends daily
- Peak concurrent player numbers of 500 thousand

League of Legends - most popular stand-alone game in the Dota genre

"Our success, however, can sometimes be our greatest challenge. Servicing half a million players simultaneously puts us in a great, but challenging position, which means we face unique problems to solve to ensure stability."

  1. I would like to know where did you get these statistics from?

  2. ofc, and they tweet that DOTA2 is copying league fo legends... ROFL

  3. Funny, they have 15 million in July of 2011, then riot claims 32 million in November... I smell something fishy. Riot is definitely lying on their numbers.

  4. Dota2 copy lol?! AHAHAHAH SUCK GAMBURGER, LoL copy Dota
