Rise of Immortals Starts Beta Testing Phase

Las Vegas, Nevada - Petroglyph Games has announced the opening of the closed beta testing phase for Rise of Immortals, an online, free-to-play PC game that expands on the emerging Dota genre scene with features designed to appeal to both hardcore and casual players.

Rise of Immortals - Free To Play Dota genre game by Petroglyph

Rise of Immortals is set in the fantasy world of Graxia, hundreds of years after the events of Guardians of Graxia. The game features the action real-time strategy gameplay of traditional Dota genre games with the addition of a persistent character progression system. Instead of an account-based leveling system, players can advance their Immortals through a diverse, persistent skill tree, customizing and upgrading the characters to unlock unique abilities that persist from match to match.

“We recognize that there can be a high barrier to entry in current Dota genre games on the market, and we wanted to expand the genre with a title that offers new features that will appeal both to current fans, as well as those who are new to this type of game.”
-- Steve Wetherill, Rise of Immortals' Executive Producer

The game depends on micro-transactions in order to earn revenue. The in-game store features items that can be purchased like Immortal skins, sound packs, pets and consumable items like in-game boosters and elixirs. Players can can further customize their Immortals as they progress through the game.

Petroglyph Games is planning to launch Rise of Immortals before the end of Spring 2011.
