Marc DeForest
better known as Maliken of S2 Games has welcomed Valve's DotA 2.

In a statement released to the Heroes of Newerth community after the announcement of Dota 2 on Gameinformer, DeForest said, "The challenge is welcomed and you can bet we plan to bring it!"

Marc DeForest also acknowledged that many people feel that HoN will be severely impacted on the release of Valve's Dota 2 and knows that it is up to S2 Games to make sure HoN continues to be a great game and will be able to compete when the time comes.

Marc "Maliken" DeForest:
We already have an excellent product that has achieved tremendous success and continues to generate significant sales and revenue for S2. We plan to make that product better and create new ways to draw more attention to the game and increase our playerbase even more than its current growth rate.
Will HoN be able to compete with Dota 2?
Only time will tell. Let's see what happens after the Dota 2 release date.

  1. I vote for DotA 2 :) After all, Icefrog is involved in Valve and not in S2 games, right?

  2. As a veteran Dota player, I loved what S2 Games did with HoN but then again, Dota 2 is where it's going to be at.

Love both Valve and S2 - 2 great companies who haven't sold out (you hear me, Blizzard?)

    Good luck Maliken.

  3. To nit pick, Blizzard sold out way back in 1994. That's BEFORE Warcraft: Orcs and Humans was released.

Now Blizzard just listens to its overlord more.

  4. I agree exactly with what Rhinan said. Icefrog will be involved with this game and it is "his game". He knows exactly what he is doing and wont fall short of spectacular.
