Heroes of Newerth First Year Anniversary

HoN 1st Year Anniversary

Kalamazoo, Michigan - Heroes of Newerth is celebrating the first year after its release with huge changes to the user interface, free to play sessions and in-game currency giveaways.

"We have an average of 30,000 people playing at any given time and daily concurrent peaks of over 50,000 players. We’re looking forward to increasing these numbers by continuing to add game updates and reward systems like the HoNiversary F2P session that keep existing players engaged, and encourage new players to join."
--Marc DeForest, S2 Games Chief Executive Officer

New Features and Enhancements

S2 Games has been actively going after the casual crowd since HoN 2.0 and the HoN Anniversary patch features enhancements aimed to make Heroes of Newerth more beginner-friendly.

Item Shop Redesigned
With over a hundred different items in-game, the redesigned HoN item system aims to facilitate the learning phase for both veteran DotA players and newcomers to the Dota genre. With the search function, players can enter item slangs and DotA names and get redirected to the HoN counterpart.

Hero Guides and Tooltips
An integrated community based hero guide system allows players to set highly rated HoN hero guides as their default hero template in order to assist them as they play a certain hero. Tooltips have been revamped in order to improve readability and explain hero skills in the most concise manner.

HoN Free To Play Sessions
From May 12, 2011 till May 22, 2011, new players will be able to sign up and play HoN at no cost.

To start playing HoN for free, just download the game and register a HoN account at:

Free HoN Gold and Silver Coins
All HoN players will be rewarded with 100 Gold Goblin Coins and 100 Silver Goblin Coins after their first game during the HoNiversary celebration period is completed.
