HoN Lore - Berzerker:
When news of the war in Newerth reached the Berzerker, he hastily left his frozen homeland in the North. Though he holds no allegiance to the Legion, the chance to face hell's demons is one the Berzerker could not pass up. An incredible warrior with an indomitable will, the Berzerker's reckless disregard for his own life gives him strength and power seemingly beyond measure, albeit at a risk. Once he has steeled himself, only death will stop him from killing his foes.

  1. Start with Hatchet Buckler and Runes. Laning/core items, in order, are Lifetube, Marchers, Vestments, with a Battery throwin in somewhere after Lifetube. How soon I grab a Battery depends on the lane, but I always want it eventually given the tiny mana pool. Once I have these, it's Helm, then Ghost Marches, then Insanitarius. Never any chance in my build to this point. After this, I usually grab an Abyssal then Heart. Frostwolf is good too if you need more chasing ability, and if you don't like the Abyssal, it can be replaced in the build by Whispering Helm, which leans into Symbol of Rage, which is INCREDIBLE on this guy.
Alternately, Basher is very good on Berzerker as well, giving HP for ulti damage, base damage, attack speed, armor, and a stun chance. I'll often grab this if I don't plan on going into Frostwolf; if you have the slow, you don't need the stun for chasing help.
The last piece is always a Riftshards. By this point, your HP is huge, and thus, your damage while ultied. You're looking at crits of 800 and better with nothing more than Helm, Insanitarius, Riftshards.. Imagine the damage when you have a heart as well.
Outside of this, Daemo's is excellent too, as it adds attack speed, and the minus armor makes up a lot for the fact that it doesn't actively add damage, or damage for Carnage via adding HP.
Headdress and Shrunken ONLY if you have to, and then preferably Shrunken. Magic immunity is much better than +5 more magic armor, in terms of damage prevention while you're ulting, regard. Disable prevention is secondary because of Carnage, stopping damage is more important, and Shrunken stops more than a Headdress, especially if you're keeping Vestments. It adds a fair bit of damage when ultied as well, between its own +16 and the HP it gives.

  2. i find myself owning games when i skip helm right after steamboots and opt for insanitarius straight up. Symbol is also a great pickup for him, and the early dominance (wolves with attack aura) can help him farm a bit faster. Riftshards are more of a luxury, same with daemonic.
